BRACE’s Escambia Fire Corps Supports PFD Cadet Testing Amidst Extreme Heat

From August 13th to 15th, BRACE activated the Escambia Fire Corps to provide vital support during the City of Pensacola Fire Department’s (PFD) Cadet Physical Abilities Testing (PAT). With temperatures soaring, Fire Corps volunteers assisted 54 cadet hopefuls by offering cooling, hydration, and monitoring throughout the three-day event.

The testing, which attracted candidates from across the U.S., is highly competitive, with only a few selected for PFD cadet positions. The intense heat made the event even more challenging, but thanks to Fire Corps' support, candidates were able to perform at their best.

"Every August, we attract candidates from all over the country to compete for a PFD Cadet spot," said PFD Battalion Chief George Foss. "The Escambia Fire Corps plays a crucial role in protecting candidates from the heat, allowing the testing to continue safely."

With the support of BRACE’s Fire Corps volunteers providing hydration, cooling measures, and ongoing monitoring, the Escambia Fire Corps ensured that all candidates could participate in the test safely and perform at their best.
