BRACE Boosts Community Preparedness with CERT Training in Escambia County

In August, BRACE successfully coordinated the Escambia Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training, with 10 instructors certifying 13 new Escambia County residents in disaster preparedness. Held over four evenings and an all-day Saturday at the Escambia County Public Safety Building, the class quickly bonded, resulting in a focused, hands-on disaster scenario exercise. As a result, three participants are now interviewing to become FEMA reservists. Additionally, in September, BRACE partnered with the Pensacola Jeeps Club to enhance community preparedness, with seven CERT instructors training club members over three weekends. The final exercise, held at UWF College, integrated search and rescue, medical, fire training, and disaster psychology, leading to 22 new CERT Jeep Club members.
